In order to focus on and assist in the conservation of the species that inhabit or inhabited the Portuguese territory, the Biological Park is the largest sample of wild fauna of Portugal.
Situated on the slopes of Serra da Lousã, occupies an area of 33 000 m2 of the National Ecological Reserve. Along the walk in the ways of Biological Park will find several species of fauna and flora.
In fauna case may be observed several species of birds of prey (eagles, owls, etc.), grizzly bears (now extinct in Portugal), lynx, wolves, foxes, wild boars, but also various herbivores such as deer, deer, roe deer , goats and many other animals. Along the route may be resting in the shade of chestnut, oak, strawberry trees and other species of flora in our woods and forests.
The Serra da Lousã Biological Park aims to promote and raise awareness Biophilia their visitors from the community school for the general public, to the existing biodiversity in our country and the factors that threaten their survival. For all resident animals at the Biological Park is created by the technicians a habitat with all the features and essential stimuli to provide physical and emotional well-being, satisfying their tastes and needs.
