Philippine bridge
heritage
Classified as a National Monument, the Phillippine Bridge was built between 1607 and 1610.
Classified as a National Monument, the Phillippine Bridge was built during the Philippine dynasty, between 1607 and 1610. It will have replaced the primitive Roman bridge, which would exist in the vicinity. Since that date and until 1954 - when the Cabril dam was inaugurated - it was the only connection with Pedrógão Grande and, consequently, the only connection to the coast.

It was built with huge granite blocks. It has 3 arches, the largest of which with 22m of span and 26m of height and that would practically beat the entire old riverbed. The deck is about 72m high and is paved.
