Following the hiking trail, Fragas de São Simão River Beach is a 15-minute walk from the Aldeia do Xisto of Casal de São Simão, making use of the crystal-clear waters of the Alge stream which, on their way to the Zêzere River, are so transparent that the small stones on the riverbed are clearly visible.

The abundance of bay laurels and cork oaks fills the air with a comforting fragrance, and the surrounding green hills — leading toward the Lousã Mountain — create a stunning natural setting. A viewpoint at the site allows visitors to fully enjoy the beauty of the landscape.

The river beach is nestled between two imposing cliffs, where rock climbing is practiced, with several equipped routes. The smaller rocks are often used as sunbathing spots or diving platforms. Walking south alongside the beach, you’ll find several irrigation channels and patches of the region’s native flora.
