The JACC- Jazz ao Centro Club is a non-profit cultural association, founded on 30 April 2003 and based in Coimbra since its inception. Over the years, and starting from its founding mission - the promotion, dissemination and teaching of Jazz - it has developed a series of projects to broaden its scope, never departing from artistic practice and working from a belief in the integration of culture with citizenship and sustainable development.
In partnership with ADXTUR, the JACC organises XJazz - Jazz Performances in the Aldeias do Xisto - which has already become one of the most important musical events of the year. Over the course of these events, several “big guns" in the world of jazz have passed by and played in the Aldeias do Xisto, such as Evan Parker, Hamid Drake, William Parker, Bill Frisell, Thomas Morgan, Rudy Royston, Joëlle Léandre and Paolo Angeli, among many others.
Jazz.pt - a bimonthly jazz magazine, the Portugal Itinerant Festival of Jazz (2007-2011), the JACC Record label, the management and programming of the Salão Brazil, the Sound Archive of Coimbra's Historic Centre and the Education Service are just some of the projects that contribute to JACC's mission.
