Their fateful encounter led to both their deaths, leaving the princess alone and forgotten in the castle. According to legend, Lausus gave his name to Lousã, while Arunce inspired the name of the river surrounding the castle (Arouce). As for the princess, it is said that on quiet nights, her sorrowful sobs can still be heard as she waits for her lost love.
