From 31 August to 30 September, Casa da Eira, in Talasnal, is hosting the exhibition Rio Ceira da Nascente até à Foz (The Ceira River from Source to Mouth) by Cláudia Santos, an actress, singer and photographer based in Lousã. It features twenty photographs depicting iconic landscapes of the Ceira River, people, animals and architectural elements that are part of the identity of this territory.
The exhibition is part of the cultural project Voz dos Avós da Nascente até à Foz (Voice of the Grandparents from Source to Mouth), developed by the company Encerrado para Obras between 2022 and 2023. Memories and testimonies were collected from around 1,100 senior citizens from the seven municipalities crossed by the Ceira River - Arganil, Pampilhosa da Serra, Góis, Vila Nova de Poiares, Lousã, Miranda do Corvo and Coimbra. These stories inspired original songs, a phonogram, a film and other artistic creations presented on tour.
The initiative is organised by Casa da Eira and ACTIVAR.
The choice of September for this exhibition reinforces the connection to World Rivers Day, which is celebrated on 28 September, highlighting the importance of preserving fresh water and river ecosystems.
Visiting this exhibition is also an opportunity to discover Talasnal and the Schist Villages, enjoy the local cuisine, hike the trails in the Lousã mountains and experience the hospitality of the region's people up close.
