“Seeing is believing, reseeing is creating” is the theme of the photography workshop that will take place from 15 to 21 July, in the Aldeia do Xisto of Barroca. The course, run by the Brazilian photographer Rodrigo Braga and the visual artist Carlos Casteleira, as part of the PES- Projeto Entre Serras (Between Serras Project), reinforces the role of the Aldeias do Xisto as a living laboratory promoting innovation and immersion for the creation of experiences and joint learning.
In partnership with the Jornal do Fundão newspaper, the Aldeias do Xisto offer 4 enrolments for students of higher educational courses in the areas of art and communication from the Beira Interior. To be one of those, simply send an email to redaccao@jornaldofundao.pt with a copy to marketing@aldeiasdoxisto.pt. The first four will win a free registration, with accommodation at the Solar Vicente, located in Barroca, including breakfast and lunch.
The river Zêzere and its ecological, biological (both animal and plant life), mineral, historical and prehistoric, social and even technological context form the central elements of this experience which will put students in tune with the area that surrounds them.
Throughout the 7-day course, participants will be challenged to explore various dialectics associated with photography: objectivity and subjectivity, observation and creation, representation and authorship, involving the creation of a conscious photographic image.
This experience culminates with the publication of a catalogue and presentation of the works at the PES 2019 exhibition at Denison University in Ohio, USA, in September and October.
