Throughout 2026, the Nunes Pereira Workshop-Museum at the Major Seminary of Coimbra will host the exhibition Nunes Pereira and the Line: 1927-2001, as part of the celebrations of the 120th anniversary of the birth and 25th anniversary of the death of Monsignor Nunes Pereira.
A fundamental element of Nunes Pereira's work, the line, which guides charcoal, Indian ink, crayon, felt-tip pen or watercolour, was the object of his tireless pursuit throughout his life.
Detectable from 1927 onwards in the illustrations of the magazine ‘Lume Novo’, published by the Major Seminary of Coimbra, Nunes Pereira's line was a compulsion until his death in 2001.
Of the approximately 4,000 works analysed for this exhibition, Nunes Pereira and his mark: 1927-2001 features around a hundred, divided into eight sections, demonstrating this artist's tireless and vital search for life and beauty.
The exhibition is the first event in a vast commemorative programme that ends on 9 December 2026. Find out more about this regional and national icon in the Schist Village of Fajão, home to the Monsenhor Nunes Pereira Museum. Book your stay at bookinxisto.com.
