Guinean musician and composer Kimi Djabaté will perform on 23 July in the Aldeia do Xisto of Cerdeira, Lusã, as part of XJazz- Jazz Sessions in the Aldeias do Xisto 2021, which is part of the Elementos à Solta - Art Meets Nature. programme.
Although he is rooted in Mandinka music, Kimi Djabaté soon became interested in other styles of music such as local Afro Mandinka dance, gumbé, afrobeat, morna, jazz and blues, incorporating all these influences in the music he creates and which has already produced 3 albums - Teriké (2005), Karam (2009) and Kanamalu (2016)
The albums have had great excellent reviews from the international press (Billboard, Financial Times, Boston Globe, Ípsilon/Público, among many others) and ranked in the World Music Charts Europe, amongst others, where it reached 2nd place,.
In 2019, Kimi collaborated with Madonna on a song called Ciao Bella - which ended up being included on the deluxe version of "Madame X", the US singer's latest album.
