In recent times, it is frequently heard that we are living in absolutely unique times for Portuguese creative music. Jazz and improvised music made in Portugal has benefited from a growing number of musicians with different backgrounds, bringing a diversity to the scene that has ended up being its greatest asset.
From the first hearing of some recordings the group had made, it seemed to us that the work the quintet was developing - outside the major centres and with only a tenuous connection to the established jazz milieu - was worthy of our support.
This is how, in mid-2014, the JACC - Jazz at the Centre Club invited
Slow is Possible for an artistic residency as part of XJAZZ - the
Aldeias do Xisto Jazz Cycle, that JACC promotes together with ADXTUR
(Schist Villages Tourism Development Agency).
The Aldeias do Xisto Network has significantly supported this effort to support such creation, establishing itself as a region of excellence in welcoming artists and providing them with the best conditions in which to work. One year after their artist residency, the album is finally out!
On 4 November Slow is Possible will perform in Viseu at the Viriato Theatre and on 5 November in Coimbra at the Gil Vicente Academic Theatre.
