CANCELLATION OF THE TIMED ASCENT OF THE COLCURINHO EPIC CLIMB
Due to the fire that broke out on 13 August, in the area of the Colcurinho hill, and in order to prevent possible constraints to the holding of the Timed Epic Climb of Colcurinho, scheduled for the 27 August, the organization has decided to cancel the event.
A new date will soon be announced for the race, with all the safety conditions necessary to fully enjoy this spectacular climb having been complied with.

Thank you.
The Portuguese “Angliru”, as it has already been called, is going to be the stage for the 1st Timed Hill Climb - The Colcurinho Epic Climb. 18 km of constant ascent from the Ponte das Três Entradas, where the Alva and Alvoco rivers join, up the 1,230m of the Alto do Colcurinho, which is one of the most spectacular Epci Climbs in Portugal.
On the 27 August this will be the moment for celebration and challenge, with a time trial, open to all athletes who will compete with friends and strangers, but above all will fight against time, in a healthy competition that will finish high up, at 1,230 m of altitude, on a special balcony overlooking the Serra da Estrela and the village of Piódão.
Description of the Event
The event consists of 2 runs, with the first open to all participants, and the second reserved for the 30 best classified individuals in the 1st run, and where the winners will be chosen.
The start will take place near the Ponte das Três Entradas, and the ascent will be timed, with the times of the athletes measured on arrival at the top of the Colcurinho. In keeping with the dynamics of the time trial, the athletes will be separated from each other by a time interval of 30 seconds. The start order is defined by the number on one’s back – which is equivalent to the registration order. The lower back numbers start first, and so will have more recovery time for the second leg.
The Aldeias do Xisto and the Municipality of Oliveira do Hospital are sponsoring this event, which is being organized by Ultra Spirit, which is responsible for the Epic Climbs project, in partnership with the Oliveira do Hospital MTB Leisure Club.

Bike Roads
With the project “Subidas Épicas” (Epic Climbs), and similarly to that which can be seen in some of the most charismatic mountain destinations in other countries, some of the most challenging climbs to cycle in Portugal are being recognised and signposted.
These climbs are equipped with permanent signage that provides cyclists and other users with an indication of the distance to the summit, the altitude and the slope over the following kilometre, thus becoming permanent training tracks for those who make cycling their favourite sport, especially mountain lovers, who can independently overcome these challenges, with their friends or alone, and then come back to beat their records.
