"Frisell is a master at enveloping complex concepts in humble presentations. Long hailed as one of the most outstanding and original improvising guitarists of our time, he has also earned a reputation for being able to establish diverse thematic relationships with his music...There is a reason why Jazz at Lincoln Centre invited him to organise a programme entitled "Roots of America."

Bill Frisell's career as a guitarist and composer has a solid foundation, evident by his discography, among the richest in contemporary jazz and spanning four decades. Now, Frisell brings us his latest project, titled Valentine. Published by Blue Note Records, this is his first album recorded alongside bassist Thomas Morgan and drummer Rudy Royston. The songs that will be played on the Janeiro de Cima river beach are jazz standards, songs from the North American repertoire and some reinterpretations.
Frisell sums up the special nature of this work: "it's all about the musical relationship we have as a trio, (...) we had been playing for many years, but had never had the opportunity to document and share this special connection".
