The Ferraria de São João Residents Association will welcome the adopters of the village cork oak grove and welcome the new adopters with to its traditional picnic. Among other activities, this meeting will offer a sensory experience led by the musician Luís Antero in the “Xisto Sonoro Concert”, where sounds obtained from field recordings in the Aldeias do Xisto are mixed with musical instruments.

The cork oak adoption initiative, which  had as its initial goal the defence of a protected species and the cultural heritage of the village, proved to be of  great importance when, during the fire of last June, it served as a natural barrier of protection for the village, facilitating the fight against the fire and  drawing attention to the importance of the creation of Village Protection Zones  (VPA).
